What materials are your products made of?

Insulated Boxes: They are rotational moulded with food-grade polyethylene. We then use premium insulation on ALL SIDES, TOP and BOTTOM of the box, including the DOOR. 4cm insulation for the sides and back; 5cm insulation top and bottom; 3.5 cm insulation in the door.

Trays: 304 stainless steel food-grade

Boards: Sustainable bamboo. Finished with a food-grade oil.

Where are your products designed?

Our products are designed in Australia, mostly in partnership with our excellent product designers: Shape Labs.

How long will it keep food hot / cold?

The Junior Sous can maintain temperatures for up to 4 hours plus. The exact time however, will depend on how much food you put in the box. Larger cuts of meat and more dense food - picture large pieces of slow-cooked roasts, curries, bakes, lasagnes - will keep very hot for 3-4 hours. The more space in the box, the quicker the temperature will drop - however even for smaller meals, expect it to hold nicely for an hour or two. If wanting to maintain food at a cold temperature, with the use some ice bricks, the food will stay fresh for 2-4 hours. Again, this depends on the amount of food and how full the box is - salads, cheese and cold cuts, fruit, desserts will stay fresh for hours.

How is this different from a regular cooler or esky?

Unlike traditional coolers that open at the top, the Junior Sous is purpose-built for food and offers front-loading access, integrated rails to keep trays and platters secure and professional-grade all-round insulation designed specifically for temperature control, not just ice. The modular, nesting design also allows for securely stacking multiple boxes on top, and also offers an instant prep or serving station on top.

Can I use this for camping/picnics/BBQs?

Absolutely! We have designed the Junior Sous for maximum versatility. It excels at BBQs, picnics, camping trips, potlucks, beach days, [tailgating], and any situation where you want to serve perfect food away from your kitchen. Protects food from the elements - wind, rain, dust, insects - securely transports and supports temperature control.

Do you need to plug it into electricity to get it hot inside? How does it stay hot inside?

There is no electricity required. Our boxes are fully insulated so once hot food goes in the insulation will help retain the heat. The portion size of your food will play a factor into how long it will stay hot for. You can also pre-heat the box to further support the temperature control.

Can I transport both hot and cold foods together?

For best results, we recommend using separate Junior Sous units for hot and cold foods. However, with proper packaging (like insulated containers), you can transport different temperature items within the same box.

Does the Junior Sous need to be preheated or pre-chilled?

While not required, particularly for large and dense serves of food, pre-heating or pre-chilling the Junior Sous for 15 minutes before loading food will support the temperature retention, especially for longer transports.

How heavy is it when fully loaded?

The Junior Sous itself weighs 5.6kg empty. When fully loaded, weight will depend on your contents, but the modular design and inbuilt handles make it comfortable to carry even when filled.

Can I stack food containers inside?

Yes! The Junior Sous is designed with enough height to accommodate stacked containers, making it perfect for transporting complete meals with multiple components.

What size platters and containers fit inside?

Internally, the Junior Sous is 27cm wide and 34 cm deep, with three sets of rails. While our stainless steel trays fit perfectly, we have designed the internal space to be very versatile. And here’s a tip - our flat trays can also act as a shelf for smaller trays, platters or plates that don’t fit on the rails.

Is this suitable for professional catering use?

Absolutely. The Junior Sous was designed based on commercial catering principles but adapted for everyday use.

Can I use ice packs with the Junior Sous?

Yes, ice packs and bricks are perfect to support cold items. Place them strategically at the top and bottom of the box, or in the door pouch for best results.

Is it easy to clean?

Yes! The Junior Sous features food-grade materials that are easy to wipe down. The interior is designed to resist stains and odors, and the stainless steel tray is dishwasher safe.

Is it suitable for transporting raw meats safely?

The Junior Sous can safely transport raw meats when properly packaged and separated from ready-to-eat foods but include sufficient ice bricks to keep the temperature cold.

Can I use accessories with the Junior Sous that aren’t Tucka Tribe products?

Of course. While we have designed the Junior Sous to perfectly fit our stainless steel trays, which are 1/2 size gastronorm trays and used commercially all over the world, we have also designed for versatility so a big range of platters and accessories will also fit. Options include either on the rails and / or sitting on the bottom of the box. And here’s a tip - our flat trays can also act as a shelf for smaller trays, platters or plates that don’t fit on the rails.

How do I store the box when not in use?

If storing after use give the box a spray and wipe with a food grade sanitiser inside and out and leave somewhere cool and dry with the door ajar. Clean trays can be left inside the box or packed away in the kitchen - they will come in handy!

Can I put a tray straight into the box from the oven?

From a fan forced oven, you can go straight into the box onto the rails. From a charcoal oven or BBQ, let the tray cool down for a minute or two. The stainless steel will cool down quickly. Don't place hot trays directly from the oven or BBQ onto the top of the box, or inside on the bottom.

How long does shipping take?

Our standard delivery is between 3-5 days. Please allow longer for rural areas. Express delivery is also available.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently do not offer standard international shipping through our store. However, if you are located outside of Australia and are keen to join our Tucka Tribe, we will work out the best way to reach you. Please get in touch at orders@tuckatribe.com and we will take it from there.

Do you offer a warranty for your products?

We have designed our products to be premium quality, made to last and support your entertaining escapades for years to come. However, if you feel that there is an issue with the product you have received, please contact us immediately. We will evaluate the product with you and work on a solution. Can I return my products?

We want to ensure you are completely satisfied with your Tucka Tribe products. We accept returns within 30 days of purchase, providing a refund for the amount of the purchase price. To start a return or for any assistance with returns, please contact us at support@tuckatribe.com.
